new bag

A lovely friend recently brought me a new idea for a snack bag. I love my original ones but they're a tad boring. I quickly tried my hand at a revision and after only 3 tries I found a way to make it! I love the little flap and think it'll be a nice addition to the mix. Please forgive the fruit snacks, I really need to do some grocery shopping.

watercolors

Watercolor is one of my favorite mediums, even visually it is what I gravitate toward. I found this work by Michelle Armas months ago and just rediscovered it on my desktop. I love the simple elegance that watercolor creates and feel like it's the closet thing I have to a "style."

Speaking of watercolors, I get just as excited to see the illustrations that accompany the DailyCandy emails as the deals and finds they send. Below are just a few of my favorites. I especially love the bottom map one that can be seen of some of their travel correspondence.

current read

On my most recent trip to Half Price Books I found a new sewing book to add to my collection, Weekend Sewing by Heather Ross. Around Christmas time I was looking around for a craft/sewing book to add to my Christmas list and looked into this one but Handmade Home ended up winning. The book has given me several wonderful new ideas. The illustrated instructions are top-notch, which was my one complaint with Handmade Home. I can't wait to get started on all the projects I have flagged.

hat hunting

The beautiful weather these past few weeks has quickly reminded me that the sun and I are not friends. This summer, in addition to my over-sized sunglasses and 70 spf sunscreen, I've decided to add a hat to protect myself. Anthropologie has a gorgeous collection that I fall in love with each year. Now I just need to narrow it down to just one!Twined Ribbon Cloche, Best-of-Both Hat, Spring Dive Hat, and Baker Cloche all from Anthropologie

an education

I finally got around to watching An Education the other day and adored it. It was such a lovely and beautiful movie and it has sent me on the search for Lynn Barber's memoir which the movie is based upon. The sophisticated double life that the young girl leads is dreamy, with weekend jaunts to Paris and excursions all over 60s London. I highly recommend watching this one!

small space ideas

Apartment Therapy is having their annual Small Cool contest. It's great to get ideas from others who live in under 1,000 square feet. My personal favorite was the teeny tiny studio apartment of Lindsey from Boston. I count myself lucky that I have a separate bedroom. My furniture arranging is hard enough without including my bed in the equation.

More photos available here, along with other tiny spaces.

little house on the prairie

While home for Easter this weekend I rescued some books from my childhood room. Among them was the entire Little House on the Prairie series. I must have read them a hundred times when I was younger. I'm glad to have them back.
The great mason jar was also salvaged from the back room of my dad's house. I always come back with goodies when we "clean."
