clever cards
I know these are all over but the messages are just so cute and clever. I appreciate a good "just because" card.

new project

Here is a little preview of a new project I'm working on. It's been partly inspired by my family's sudden obsession with visiting all 50 states. We've become quite competitive and I'm definitely in last place. I always associate life moments with where they took place so I like the idea of having a little reminder. I only have Indiana and New York so far but they'll be in my shop soon. (photo by the lovely Hayley Jurnak)
What should be the next states (or countries) that I make?

INDIEana Handicraft Exchange
The Handicraft Exchange this weekend was a success! Despite the 90+ degree weather and raging humidity we had tons of shoppers and I got some great feedback and some wonderful ideas from people I met. I wanted to give you all a peek of my booth (for those of you who didn't get a chance to see it in person) and let you see all the goodies that you can expect to see coming soon on my Etsy shop.

3 DAYS UNTIL IHE!
Over the remaining 3 days I'm going to give a sneak peak of some of the items that will be at my booth on Saturday at the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange.

Support your reading habit with cube bookends. Filled with sand, these cubes come as a matching pair. You've got to get them in person because they won't be available online in my shop.

craft fair post-view
With my first craft fair under my belt, here is a little preview of the items I am selling. I'll have some new items to add in the upcoming weeks. I have two Christmas events coming up; one in my hometown and my final fair is a part of my city's "First Friday" Holiday Hoopla event in the beginning of December. Look for them in my etsy shop as well.

is it too early for a new calendar?
Last year I bought a calendar by Miriam Bereson and just received an email this week announcing the release date of her 2010 edition. I just love her calendars but learned that I am not a wall calendar type of person. Instead, I need a calendar that I can keep in my purse that is on me at all times. Last year I experimented by having both, but found my wall calendar remaining blank for a good portion of the year and then I could never quite manage to keep it up to date.
If I just got a wall calendar for "looks" and hung it solely to keep track of the date, I might go this route. This fabric panel calendar from SeptemberHouse on etsy just screams for embellishment.
Another good planner from Sarah Pinto's etsy shop if you're a weekly organizer. She has a variety of cover options to choose from.

I'm more of a planner girl. Love the hand drawn quality of this one from TheAyBeeCees.

new HannaKinsey jewelry!!

My oldest sister just opened her own etsy shop with her great handmade jewelry. She uses vintage/repurposed pieces and gives them a modern flare. I am very into the combination of unconventional pieces in my jewelry and her necklaces and earrings fit the bill. Made with a mixture of antique and vintage charms, beads, buttons or fittings, her pieces are often one of a kind. Hop on over to her shop, HannaKinsey, and see more lovelies.
1. Turquoise Earrings, $6.50/pair 2. Morning Glory and Mint Bead Necklace, $35.00 3. Orange and Teal Dangly Earrings, $6.00 4. Beach Glass Necklace, $30.00

shop additons
Two new additions to my shop this week. Finally finished the rug I've been meaning to make for MONTHS. I am also embarking on a line of correspondence goods. I posted some fun mailing labels and they will soon be joined by address labels and other fun paper items.
Hop on over to my shop and see more pictures of both items!

new etsy item
I just finished a new item for my etsy shop. It is a cross stitched blue bird sitting on a branch. I've become intrigued by cross stitch because when completed it is a pixelated version of the image. I look forward to playing around with it using more modern images. This is my first attempt at cross stitch since I was little and would do it as my 4-H project. I stitched it from a custom pattern I created using the image and graph paper. I'm proud of it for my first try and I also think I worked out a lot of the kinks I encountered along the way.

one down, four to go!
I finally finished the block printed tablecloth. Here is the final result...
Some things I learned in retrospect:
1. Turpentine is not your friend. It is best to use it as little as possible so plan on cleaning up only once.
2. Prepare to get everything within a 5 feet radius pink!
3. Buy larger fabric.
4. Carve a bigger stamp!
